ok...this is not for me...its for my dad's new '86 ext cab 4x4 pickup...its allll stock...including the tires...which are 235/70's...which is i think a 28"....we're wanting to bump it up to 31x10.50's...just for the clearance..and the tire choice..(more tires in that size around here than any size smaller)we want a mud terrain...but not a high dollar mud terrain like BFG's or Nitto's or Toyo's...just something cheap that will clean out really good...i told him to go with Super Swampers...but he wont..lol..about 75% highway driving/dirt roads....the rest will be offroad...probably old backroads to fishing spots...deer hunting trails...4x4 trails..stuff like that...and he doesnt want to spend $500 for a set of tires...we wont drive this much during the week..but probably sat and sunday everyday ALOT until we die...lol..(we plan on keeping this thing for a while)...its a 5spd...idk what gears it has in them..that will help on tire choice as well..so you guys put some choices out on the table to help us decide...thanks alot!

like my maxxis bighorns but expect to drop a little more than 500 for them, i would check out craigslist for some used but pretty new m/t's or somethin

 

Maxxis Mudders get my vote. not much road noise. good in the rain. i live in Louisiana, and we have red clay type mud that sticks like glue, and these tires clean real well without having to red line the motor to clean the tire lugs out. i will buy Maxxis again, but i might try the Bighorn that Maxxis manufactures. i have read different reviews of people getting 50-60,000 miles on a set. i will be happy with 45,000. i spent 600 bucks mounted and balanced, and believe it or not, road hazard.

Thats what I did and they've been awesome so far. Got the BFG casings and the green diamonds. They're the OTR so I would consider them a semi-mud tire. Not really that loud either.

 

Hmmm, very interesting.... Would you say these are good for a daily driver? Also, was does the "Green Diamond" rating mean; I see some tires have it and some don't...

I kinda like the 31x10.50R15 OTR ULTRAs; just more and half the price of Firestone Destination MTs off tirerack.com, which up until now I was set on getting, lol.

 

Have you considered considered Kumho M/Ts or Cooper discovery M/Ts. They are comparable to the ProComps in size. price and performance.

Read my above post. I'm very happy with the choice I made and since you're in FL, you won't need the green diamonds or Ultras (same thing) because they're for icy conditions. They're like little industrial grade diamonds molded into the tread blocks that act as a studded type tire. I'm happy I chose the OTR's though. Cant beat the price and I've heard nothing but good things from other people also.
