Another super-sweet issue...

So I thought I had noticed my engagement-point moving closer to the floor but my wife says I look for car trouble sometimes just so I can fix something so I ignored it for a couple of days. You know, cause she's usually right about stuff I do, hahaha.

Well, on the way home tonight I found myself having to match revs to get it in gear. So tomorrow's going to be a fun day of bleeding and adjusting. Hopefully it's not the master cylinder, but I'm betting money it is. We'll see...

Wish me luck and cheap repairs, hahaha

I am willing to bet its the master cylinder. I had the exact same problem. You should never have to adjust the factory setting for the clutch pedal rod. If you do, you have a problem.

For me it was the slave.

Check the fluid to see which is your problem.

Either turn off truck or maybe one could rev the truck and then shift when the rpm's are on their way down.

Insert the dipstick, if there's no fluid, the problem is with you.

Here we go again....

Hahahaha, ya'll are ridiculous, hahaha

I imagine it's probably just some blown seals in the master cyl. I'm going to call AutoZone and get a price before I even go out and pop the hood.

Oh, and to get it into first gear the correct answer was 'what is blowing through red lights, Alex?' hahahaha

You don't have to blow through red lights lol.

When my master went out, I was 35 miles from home. You can start the truck IN GEAR (assuming its 4x4) with the clutch start cancel button, then just shift it without the clutch by matching RPM to gear speed. Its a pain in the butt to learn, but after a few shifts you will catch on.

just going out on a limb here, but your mounting braket for the clutch pedal may be breaking. Mine had a complete comeapart in town a few months ago. the master cyl. and slave were new, it was just that the pedal went to the floor and wouldn't engage. Had it taken out and welded together with some support. now I also have an extra braket at home just in case.

DeathCougar, that's basically what I was doing... Not my first bad clutch, haha. I was almost home when it happened and didn't want to mess with shutting down and re-cranking at both stops between where I was and home, haha

Oh, and it turns out the reservoir was empty. So I filled it and started bleeding.

WHOA! I've never seen 22year old hydraulic fluid before!! That crap was nasty! My wife looked at it and said, 'is that supposed to be that black and thick?' hahaha

So, not sure if I have a leak somewhere but it's full and working fine now and I'm keeping an eye on all the lines in case there is a leak. This is about the first time I've had a vehicle problem with a free fix!

If its empty, its leaking. Brake fluid (aka clutch fluid) doesn't just evaporate or magically disappear.

Look under your dash where the pedal rod attaches. I BET you will find your leak...and an oily carpet

i had a bad mast. cyl. and that stuff was pouring out all over my carpet.. it could also be the slave cyl.

oh and as far as that safety cancel dealy.. youcan bypass that if your truck doesnt have the button, just jam somethin into the switch down by your clutch.

the 'ol "Clutch Start Cancel" button...

I love that thing, lol

In 4low and having 2 Red-Top Optimas, I can jump some high curbs with just the starter motor

you find things like that out when on the way home from springing a leak in your clutch fluid line, the bolt on + side connector for the coil vibrates loose for some reason...

You don't need to use the clutch start cancel button. Pushing the clutch in will activate the switch whether the clutch works or not.
