New motor works fine now...........get some eletronic parts cleaner....works miracles on many applications.
I'll give it a try! Thanks!

Also the are a couple of safety catches that will not let the window go up with the tailgate down...find out where they are and you can work on it with the gate down...makes it a lot easier

Well if the window is stuck up your going to have to go inside the truck and open and remove the service panels on the tailgate from the inside and disconnect the motor from the inside so you can get the window down. If your window is already down and ur still not able to get the window open you can do alot of things to get that gate down. Disconnect the latch cables and flip the latches by hand. Puch the lock tab in the tailgate assbemly with a screwdriver while pulling the lever. It will come down.

The window is up and it's locked - won't open from inside or outside. I've got a 1st gen because I checked the child safety locks and they're not locked. I think the motor is toast. I took the panel off, sprayed some of the parts, hit the switch up by the console and looked back to see if anything was moving and nothing is. It's only my winter ride so it's not super important that it gets fixed right away, but I do want to fix it because it is annoying not being to open the back.

not always the motor theres alot of switches that play alot of role in the windows operation. check the motor to the battery if it works then i bet the switch in the left latch is faulty and needs bypassing.

Now my turn: The rear window rolls down via the switch at the front, but it won't go down when I put the key in the gate.

My first guess would be the tailgate switch is faulty (or needs cleaning). If everything else works, then I'd start there.
