The coolant would most likely sit on top of the oil. Maybe a fluids change will be enough. To the OP, why do you have a 22R sticker on your 3.0? lol.

Truck seemed to run fine once it was started up. It's pretty damn cold out so there was a constant steam, but it seemed normal. The abnormalities started once I shut her down after driving around the block.

In both pictures, the truck was off, with keys out of the ignition. This started with about two minutes after shut down.

It smelled pretty bad, almost like burning plastic, but not as "sharp". When I fired it up to get it out of the garage (concerned about faulty cat catching fire) there was a huge amount of the "smoke" that came out. When I say huge, the amount of smoke was probably as large as my truck, just vertical.

My dad has never seen it before with his years as a mechanic. The only thing we could think of was that the cat was filled with water (submerged 3+ minutes) and it somehow is now destroyed.

haha, Buddy had a couple of them, and I have no where to put it.

The #6 that was at 120 also had some oil in it, but my engine's been eating oil pretty regularly.

I think your truck may be perfectly fine. I see no signs of a head gasket. The fluid loss is probably when the radiator hit ice cold water with hot coolant in it causing a pressure differential(?). I would change the oil and fill the radiator back up and bleed the system of any air. That smoke from the tailpipe is just the crap you loosened in the exhaust system by water go in it and boiling to create steam which actually cleaned the catalytic convertor out.

That seems very probable and I sure hope you are right.

Now my only concern is the slightly worse than normal idle...

check your connections going to the distributor, including the ignition wire coming off of the coil. Ill bet there was some water in the connections and now it just needs cleaning....

Lesson #1 - If you dont have money to fix your ONLY vehicle, DO NOT under ANY circumstances abuse aforementioned vehicle.

think before you act....

my recommendation is to stay out of mud/water holes. it will eat your wheel bearings, engine pulleys, and screw up or possibly destroy your engine and related electronics. it's just not worth it unless you HAVE to cross it for some reason. if you can drive around it, do that instead

might not hurt to give your truck a complete look over:

remove your spark plugs and turn the motor over
drain all your fluids (oil, coolant, tranny, diffs)
change your air filter
take apart your dist cap and clean it out
check your AFM for mud
clean all your engine connectors w/ contact cleaner

Well I'm going to be forced to replace part/all of the intake in between the manifold and the air box. I pulled the plastic elbow to get to the center spark plug. In putting it back, the hose connected to the manifold was ripped. Whoops. The elbow had water in it too. I drilled and drained it, then I put a screw in the hole. I kinda rest the intake together, and it ran fine. Just one trip around the block, and the was it. i think I dodged the biggest bullet that was ever shot in my general area.

Ok, so it's for sure. I got a cooling system pressurizer and set everything up. I determined that I had a leak somewhere, the pressure was slowly dropping. I Pulled the back driver side plug, it was wet and water began draining from the hole...

It was kinda sad parking it in the back. It seemed like she didn't want to go; barley started, steaming the hole way, fighting to get out of 4wd. So, I get to start the rebuild phase. Yay....

Thanks guys.

I know it's going to be a bit of work. I just hope I don't need any major head work.

Well I got her all bandaged up, HG and all. Everything seems O.K. minus the crappy Napa gasket not holding under the water bypass. It leaks just a little, but she's drive able. I'm gonna pop the new gasket from the dealer (100X better) this Sat. and then she'll be 100%. It felt so good to drive the truck these past couple days.
