for all of you that are running an amp and/or subs where are you putting them in stardard cabs, my buddy just sold me his old amp and i have 8 inch subs in boxes however i was wondering where to put the amp once i get it wired? thanks

I got a box with two 10's behind the seat of the 83. Brother made it for me, amp is mounted behind the box. Box is attached to cab, really do not think the box will ever be coming out, luckily amp is still going strong last time i had it running.

 

when i had my reg cab i cut a piece of wood to about the size of the amp then used some real short sheet metal screws mounted that to the cab then screwed the amp in place

 

in my old 2wd pickup i welded the amp to the cab!

 

Throw it under the seat you move less. Im putting mine under the passengers seat. Nobody flips my seats and once i add the ten in mine i wont have anything back there other then the sub and the other boxes(6 and 8's with horns) sounds good but could use more bump.

This the most common setup I think for us Standard Cabber's. I'm trying to see if there's a way anyone can fab up a custom center console to conceal an 8" or so and add some bass. I'll be working with Bumpin'Yota on this via IM, Pic's, and many (I really mean MANY measurements) as we are on opposite sides of the states. I think something can be done.

If you have a Bench seat then you can mount the amp under seat on the passanger side (usually see's less weight) and then a small truck box behind it. This doesn't work so well for those over 5'10". If you have Buckets, you can get a little more creative. In the past I have sen people mounting smaller amps in place of the glove box with custom brackets and then holow out the glove box to conceal it. This allows for a bit more room behind, under the seats.

As I work on mine, I'l start a new thread and post many pictures. Anyone else have any more idea's?

This does not work if you drive with the bench seat all the way back. My legs still hit the bottom of the wheel. The amp is screwed to the wall behind the driver seat and the seat hits it. I have a piece of slit tubing on there to stop it from rubbing the amp case and boggering it. I have 2 6x9's just thrown on the floor because there is no room any boxes. Not the best setup, but it helped a ton on the low end. The fader is set to R4 or 5. No sub out on the head. I do not use the speaker level out's at all. I have Pioneer fronts in the stock grills. The bench seat really needs to disappear. Check behind the glove box, too. I could not fit the amp under the seat. Mine it so sat on and squashed. I looked into door speakers but it it more trouble than it it worth.

 

I have a kenwood woox, which is a combined amp, and sub setup that fits nicely behind the passenger seat, and leaves plenty of storage room. The bass isnt the greatest, but its way better than just having the in dash speakers, and makes quite a noticable difference over just the dash speakers.

2 JBL 10"s with a rockford amp, and an alpine amp under the passenger seat for the JBL 6.5" components.

When I got my 92 from my bro-in-law it had a similar setup. 2 8's, slightly smaller boxes.. and a amp in the middle. Worked great if you were a midget like him, 5'6 or something... But at 6'4 it made the truck unbareable to drive for me, even my 5'8 wife. And they sounded like crap anyhow, so out they came and wow it was like getting a xcab ...

I know what you mean, I'm 6'2" and when I took the subs out to build the whole setup, I slid the seat all the way back and I couldn't touch the pedals.

I built the boxes so I'd be able to sit comfortable and still be able to carry my tools behind the seat.

 

My amp is now in front of the shifter, but willbe going under the passenger's side seat. I also have a 10" sub that won't fit behind the seat cause of the box it's in. I'll have to make another. But as of now, I moved the stock speakers to the door and got some cheap 3x5's free and put those stock location. behind the seat are 4 roadmaster 6 1/2" subs with 2 tweeters. and in the passenger's seat is my 10". haha not the greatest setup in the world, but it works.

 

Anything you can do is better than the 2 fronts. Especally with the Clarion sound. I had two other heads in mine; stock and a Sony XR6700 tape deck and they sounded better on the two fronts. Damn Clarion. If anybody knows how to fix that...

 

well, my tape deck is a Denon and I had to rig that up anyway, but for the crappy speakers I have in there, it actually sounds pretty good. minus the awesome Visonik sub I have. That thing is awesome and sounds great by itself.
