Greets all,
Couple of years ago I made the mistake of installing one of the $300 Evergreen heads from Amazon. Worked great for 4 months till the rocker pads rounded off the cam and put glitter throughout the entire motor and junked it. Been running a locally found replacement for the last couple years and it's getting kinda tired. I have a spare that I'm going to build up and was wondering if anyone has got one of the Evergreen heads from amazon and installed cams/valves and valvetrain from a reputable site in to the casting??
Just floating ideas,
THanks,
TK
I put my oem valves, springs, cam, etc in a bare head and it has worked fine. I'd never use an aftermarket loaded head ever again.
Maybe go to a pull your part wrecking yard and grab all that oem stuff off an engine. I got to imagine any new aftermarket out there is the same low quality stuff as what comes in the loaded heads.
My chain wore a hole into the cover drivers guide obviously gone, so I'm shopping around for parts anyone use the Evergreen kit complete with pumps, cover, chain, plastic guides... I prob won't use the plastic guides if I did order the kit and might run my original oem accessories as they are still ok...
Thanks in advance!

My son put a Evergreen head in his truck…the cam didnt last a week..
I had a rebuilt long block ,,Universal Industries,,,head gasket went a 10K, timing chain guides went at 40K throwing the timing chain and destroying valves and possibly scoring pistons so im in the process of installing a used engine i bought dirt cheap as donor for cheap,,,mechanically sollid, engine purred,,Mechanically excellent and owner drove it to deliver,,even comment it sound better than my engine and he was correct
My point is know what parts brands are going into your rebuilt engine and heads. I will pay a premium and have the work done locally by reputable shop if such service is required.
This is my first time swapping a modern engine,,my only experience swinging engines is older carbureted NO ECU engines
This has become a project,,i have a spare CAMRY to get me to my Jay Oh Bee Freddy already searching for the 10 mm socket
