I bought a replacement thermostat just to see if there's a difference. I also needed a hose anyway. The lower didn't quite want to seal completely.


Oreillys offered a 160, 180, and a 190. How would a 160 make the truck run? The weather Here runs in the 90's most of the summer, kinda mild winters, But we do have a few cold snaps that are around 10-15 degrees at night.


What would be the best option? Or would they really make any difference? I haven't installed it yet.

 

You don't want a 160 on the street, it's simply too cold. Stick with either a 180 or 190 thermostat.
I like to change thermostats to suit the season.

180 in the summer to help keep the engine from pinging in hot weather and 190 in the winter for good heater and defrost capabilities.

If you're going to disregard the warnings and run a parts store thermostat get a Stant SuperStat.
