alty compatability ?

my search ended up with lacking results so I ask (and prepair for the lashing if its been covered 3000 times and I'm blind). The alty is begining to give in to the ghost on my 4runner, I have sitting one off a 88 pickup. The catch, the pickup was a 2.2 truck, the 4runner a 3.0 (both automatics, I know sometimes that matters). I figure a pully swap would be needed but otherwise, will it fit without havign to do all kinds of major modifications? (don't plan on it bein a perminant fix, just not exactly pick-a-part yard weather, and I'm cheap) Thanks ahead of time

What is an alty?
I've never heard that term before.

update... I had an alt. marked for a 91 Corolla in easy reach and didn't feel like hunting more that day. A switch of the plug and a pully with an extra groove for a wider belt (didn't swap to the correct one) and I'm charging good again. Did it on Wednesday, been workin fine since then. I'll get around to an 'upgraded' GM one later
