alternator upgrade help

My toyota is a 93 pickup with 22re rebuilt with a mild cam and headers into a 3" exhaust. Have a 3" body lift. Also have a beefy clutch installed.

I have installed 4 off road lights on my roll bar and will be installing 2 more off road lights on the front bumper. I am also running a stereo amp, so need more power. I seen where you can get a kit to convert to a gm alternator. Has anyone done this and if so give me some info about doing this? I see trail gear.com has a kit but not sure if it would work on mine. Also, can you provide me with some info on what size alternator i can safely run?

Thanks for any help.

I'm liking the specs with this setup... Not overkill, keeping it Nippondenso, and the price isn't outrageous.

I'd assume 55 watts or roughly 30 amps if they're all on which is have the capacity of an oem alt.

After doing alot of shopping around for a high output alternator, I went with Maniac Electric, and have been really happy with it. Unless you want to spend over $300 for a 200 amp, Maniac is a great option for only about $140.00 for a 130 amp alternator. They also offer a lifetime warranty on the alternator for another $100.

Super friendly staff. They just rebuild the original alternator to put out more amperage, so it's just a direct replacement. You do have to add an additional power wire from the alternator to the battery to handle the higher amperage output, and Maniac will sell you this wire with an inline fuse for $40.00.

Good luck!
