I've been looking to throw something besides the stock taillights onto my 94 4Runner but I haven't been able to find anything. Plenty of choices for the previous gen and the following generation but nothing for the 90-95's.

Could be that it's been right in front of me all along - If anyone can point me in the right direction id appreciate it.

there are some but they're rare and very expensive ($300) painting the orange part red seems like the thing to do...also search, this has been covered before

like a euro style tail light? check out ebay there are tons for like 10-15 bucks

If you can find any auctions that are for a second gen Runners (I see plenty of '96 +) and can link me to them ill be all over it.

I haven't really looked into pickup lights but from what I have read I don't think it'll work. Thanks for the help so far

i'm pretty sure the pickup lights are different in that they have the reverse lights built in. maybe in size too......

Truck lights screw in with 4 screws from the outside (similar to the 84-88 style) 2nd gen 4runner lights screw in from the side with 2 screws, and have two tabs on the outside to hold it in as well. You cannot use truck lights on 4runners (2nd gens) without major mods.

I agree. I think those clear euro tail lights look cheap, and crappy. Save those things for the ricers. They definitely are not for me. But if thats the look you wanna go for, then go right ahead. I've never seen any on a 4runner, so it could be neat, I guess, if thats what your into.

Remove the tail light... Weld in a filler, and put in any kind of tail light you wish.

Not necessarily euro's - when it comes to custom lights there are usually a few options (But not in this case). If it's as much a pain in the ass as it seems (and as expensive) I'm happy to stick with the stock lights. $300? Naaaaaahhhhhhhh

So, what style are you going for, then? Do you want those smoke tint lenses, or do you want something custom?

i agree with that ricer part. i mean look at all these hondas running around, ever since fast and furious came out, car became ugly. but then again i guess it all depends on your own preference. clearly i just like the cleaner more jdm look. thats right JDM

if you want custom. then open them up and put an array of LED's ?

use a handful of luxeon to really let people know urs stopping !

Well you have three possible options. First the all clear North America Market versions:




Using the correct bulbs I never thought they looked bad with the parking/brake lights on. Nor did the cops seem to notice. Then again the only legal issue with them is the clear reflectors.

Or you can get the non-North American version. They have an integrated reverse bulb for the tire carrier. They also come in the all clear version.




I can get a hold of either of the non-North America versions but I cannot find a source for the North American versions I use to run. PM me if you're interested. -- Be forewarned, they will run over $100 for a pair, but under $200 not counting shipping from Japan.
