all I wanted was some lunch...

It was about 12:00pm, and I was sitten at the house hungry. So I get in my PU and turn the key... "click"... cricket, cricket, cricket...

try again... "click"... cricket, cricket, cricket...

The first thing I though was my battery(s), which would have sucked, considering I have 2 Red-Top Optima's; that would have been a $300 purchase...

So I tried to jump-start it off my sister's Focus; no go...

So then I just figured starter. I had no idea how old it was, so I figured anything's posible.

So I jack her up and pull the tire off, remove the little metal access panel on the side, reach in to check the cable on the starter to make sure it just wasn't loose, and when I wiggled it, the whole freak'n starter wiggled!!!

So I just figured ah screw it, I'm not taken the risk. So I called up the parts house to make sure they had a new stater, and they did, $60 reman with a lifetime warranty, so I had em sit it out and hold it for me. I would have rather had a new one, but they would have had to order it, and I needed it right away, as I have to leave to work at 6:30am tomorrow.

I then started the task of removing the old one. The bottom bolt was stupid tight, despite being able to wiggle the starter around but the top bolt I didn't even need a ratchet to unscrew off!

Contrary to what I've heard, it wasn't that hard to get out. I've heard stories of the starters on the 22re's being a major PITA, but if you pull the tire and that access panel out of the way, it's pretty straight forward.

Slapped the new on in, bolted it in with some new lock-washers on both bolts and she fired right up!

Job well done!

Anywho, I just thought I tell about my experience from today

Nah, what you want is a drive through beer barn with a bbq sandwich shop inside. That would be heaven.

Congrats bleeder, better to find out today than tomorrow morning before work.

Yeah you would think, the fast food industry could thrive up there.

no, it appear's it's been replaced in the past... not the original... if it were the original Denso, I may have tried to rebuild it myself...

unfotunately I didn't have that option... sometime in the last 19 years the starter has been replaced with an AutoZone one
