Air Flow Meter Question

Air Flow Meter Question
So what are the symptoms of a bad AFM? I'm skeptical of mine in my 87 runner 22re 5 speed. I'm stalling out from time to time at idle and it appears that my ECU is being prompted to kill the fuel pump by something. The ECU will "tink" just before it kills it. Is there a way to test the AFM out?

You are right that it could be a lot of things! I have checked out the EGR, (it was clogged-got it working) the little water jacket that runs through the throttle body (it was clogged-got it back in shape) Cleaned the goo out of the throttle body (that has made the most improvement) and of course...Plugs, Cap/Rotor, PCV, Air Filter, Thermostat....etc
It was stalling all the time and now after doing these things the stalling has subsided and it idles out beautifully. But there are still times in cold weather that it seems to just get a signal to "kick off" the ECU. Please let me know what else you all would check. Thanks for covering my back!

Rabbit-- You might be on to something. I ripped that rubber intake tube the first day I got it. Right now it has a duct tape job (it was good when I first did it) that might have developed a leak. I'll check that.
