Depends on how much R134 they put in. Figure anywhere from $75 for a basic service all the way up to $150 if they have to completely refill the system. That would mean you have a big leak which will cost more $$$ to fix

Every auto parts store (and Wal-Mart) sells a do it yourself recharge can of 134. They normally run $15-20.

Alternatively you can buy the AC recharge kit (gauges, hoses ect..)on sale this week at Harbor Freight for 1/2 of their retail price.

My system is down. Either an o-ring or a hose blew out all the coolant/oil in my system. I'm gonna go the Harbor Freight route. I was pricing the tools yesterday but I have to pay for school books this week so that may be put off for a bit.

i mean, i think it needs recharged, since we bought it (new) we have replaced the compressor once (maybe 5-7 years ago?) ....
i was driving one day, and turned on the air, and it came out warm (outside air warm), and then it just never worked.

the ac light comes on, and air can come out fast and everything, just not cold...
from reading other posts, i think it needs recharged, but i have no idea on how to do it... if there is a thread on how plz link it up, or if someone can help, that would be great.

Be sure it's not R12 (there is a sticker under the hood - mine is on the core support in front of the radiator). IF you can find someone who will even work on it, recharging it will be several hundred dollars. That stuff is like gold now.

Or you can convert it to R134a - search, there's a number of topics where people have done it with mixed results.

go down to the autoparts store and buy a 18 or 19 oz can with a guage.
the instructions are fairly simple and easy to follow, if you need any help just as here. $30 or $40 is better than $150!!!

edit: read the can, get one with stop leak in it!
