Advice on Refurbishing an A/C system - 1986 Pickup
Hi All,
I procrastinated on repairing my A/C system last summer, made it through winter, and now it's starting to warm up and I figure I better get it done. I had taken it into a shop to get checked out, and they said the compressor was shot and wanted to replace all of it to the tune of $3500.
So, inspired by the likes of scope103's writeup, I'm trying to put together the pieces I need to make this happen.
I'd like to use factory Toyota replacement parts and convert it to R134 in the process, but I'm a little concerned about getting a compressor with the old ND-6 oil for R12. Does anyone know if the compressor from Toyota comes filled with oil, and if so which kind? Can I flush the oil from the compressor if it does?
I was looking at this compressor specifically: https://parts.toyota.com/p/69370864/883201224084.html
I also looked at the compressor from Denso, which I believe comes filled with mineral oil for R12 (https://www.densoproducts.com/denso-...efv=2317661551)
Or should I go for a cheaper, all inclusive kit like this one from Autozone? https://www.autozone.com/cooling-hea...348/737524_0_0
Thanks in advance and, any other tips or advice from the gurus of Yotatech is much appreciated.

Yep. You can pour the oil out of the compressor when you get it home. Just refill with the correct amount of the right oil and go forward.
