Advice on Detroit True Trac or Lockrite in front diff?

So, recently I busted a inner axle shaft in my front diff on the passenger side of my 88 Pickup which has a Detroit True Trac inside it. I picked up another front diff on Craigslist with a Lockrite locker inside it. So, do I switch out the Lockrite Locker in this one with the Detroit True Trac which is in my current broken diff?? This is more of a every day driver, and I live in the mountains of Colorado where we get snow in the winter???

Which one is better? Thoughts, opinions, advice
Thanks..........

For the conditions you are describing, I would stick with the true-trac.

My 88 had Tru-Tracs in both axles when I bought it. Great for the street, sand and snow. Sucked on the rocks.

Running Aussies in both axles now, great on the rocks, sucks on the street and in snow.

For how you will be using it, I'd stick with the Tru-Trac like BeMiceElf said.

I like my trutrac in the snow. It tracks straight with only slightly heavier steering feel.

Lock-rite up front in the snow will be absolutely terrible.

If you enjoy being able to steer on the street in snow/ice, keep your true-trac.

True trac. I have one in the rear of my truck, and aside from a selectable in front, that would be my next choice for a street driven front. My rear true trac is vey forgiving. Not the best for offroad but definitely my choice for a street driven 4x4. If all you did was break a stub axle, the swap the axle and long side tube if on the drivers side...

Well, sounds like True Trac is the way to go......Broke the stub on the passenger side, so maybe just replace that one with the diff I bought on Craigslist..

I had a True Trac in my '86 IFS and loved it. For icy roads / snow it was awesome. I am buldng up a '95 same way.
If you change your mind on keeping the true-trac I would like first dibs on it no matter the ratio.
Regards,
Hugh

As everyone else said and for the same reasons, stick with the True Track.
