Accelerator problems on 95 4runner 3.0.

I just bought a 95 4runner 4x4 automatic. I need help to figure out why the gas pedal feels like it is super sensitive. It is almost impossible to drive at one speed. As soon as you let up on the pedal just a little bit it is like you took your foot off of it totally. This is my first Toyota and I have been researching others similar problems but nothing really matches. Could this be a dash pot adjustment or maybe the throttle cable? ANY IDEAS?
