ABS Removal

I am thinking of removing the ABS system from my truck. Hasn't been hooked up in over a year and never worked well anyway. Has anyone done this that can offer any tips or tricks before I dive into this. Thanks in advance

Yes. I guess you just ran new lines from the PS pump to the steering gear. Also how did you redo the brake lines. You mentioned in your swap thread something about a line from a non abs truck.

You will need to get a highpressure powersteering hose to run from the pump to gear box. For the low pressure powersteering line you can use ATF cooler line.

For the brake line I used a brake line for a non-abs truck.

I covered it some here in post #60 page 3:

Mike @ ORS may be able to help you with a custom highpressure powersteering hose or maybe one from a non-ABS truck will work.

Thanks, I'm going to hit the dealer tomorrow nd take a look at the non abs schematics. Like you said maybe the lines from the non abs truck will bolt right on. Much appreciated.

Did you remove all the electronics as well?

I took out the ABS computer because I needed the space under the dash for a URD computer. It was already disconnected from like 7 years ago.

Ok well it's not as exciting as an engine swap but in case anyone wanted to do this I documented it in this thread:

Pull the fuse in the engine fuse box, It's cheap, easy, and it works. That way, if you want it again, just plop the fuse back in.

Good write-up, but you linked all your pics to a private album so we can't see them. You should be able to change the album statis to public.
