abnormal clutch wear?

Hello all, I managed to get the engine out of my truck last night (1990 22re 4runner). I just purchased the truck 2 weeks ago, and in March of last year the gentleman who owned the truck prior to me changed the clutch. When I separated the engine and tranny yesterday the fingers of the pressure plate looked like they might have a bit abnormal wear for 12 months of use. I have never pulled an engine though or done clutch work for that matter. Can anyone confirm my suspicions that the clutch needs to be replaced? Also if it is hooped what would cause that I can't tell if the throwout berring is new but it looks in pretty good shape. Thanks

Finger wear doesn't look unusual to me. What about the clutch looks worn? You'll need to measure it per the FSM.

Finger wear

Thanks TNRabbit my concern was the finger wear. With the clutch only being in for 12 months I thought it would look pretty brand new, with no grooves from the throwout berring. Am I correct in thinking then that it is pretty normal for the throwout berring to wear a little groove in the fingers?

It looks like MINIMAL grooving; clean the dust off the rest of the fingers & do a caliper check...also throw a little grease on there before you put it back to together...

If I remember correctly, the FSM states the fingers shouldn't have much difference between them in height, but I don't recall anything about wear, unless it's excessive.

Did you replace your pilot bearing when you replaced the clutch?

Hey there TNRabbit, I was able to spend a bit more time on it last night. I took off the pressure plate fly wheel and rear seal carrier. I did the rear seal, and the carrier gasket. In the process I was able to look at the pressure plate fingers a bit closer and the wear does seem fairly minimal. With the flywheel off now I am going to take it to a machine shop to make sure there is no abnormalities. I just want everything to be right so I dont have to come back in this far again for a while. Also the guy who owned the truck before me did the clutch and I cannot tell if he did the pilot bearing or not, I know it's not too expensive though so I think I will probably do it just in case he didn't previously. Am I correct in understanding that I should put grease on the lip of the throwout bearing where it contacts the fingers? Thank you for your assistance.
