A340H a/t transmission constantly shifting
1995 4x4 automatic 3.0L
Recently it got pretty cold where I live. And my trans started shifting constantly when I'm light on the throttle.
It still will make it through all the gears if i give it a good bit of gas, also has plenty fluid.
Could it be the solenoid? I hear thats a pretty common problem.
Any help would be awesome.

First, check for codes: http://web.archive.org/web/201408161...31diagnosi.pdf
More likely, you have a problem with your ECT sensor.

The codes for the transmission are read differently than the Check Engine codes. But I'm sure you did it correctly.
Primarily, when the engine is cold, the ECM will not engage the lockout clutch in some gears, or shift into overdrive. While your symptoms aren't the usual, the connection to cold suggests an issue with something that SENSES the cold.
Just so you know, you don't have a "kickdown" cable. The shifting is all controlled by the ECM, based on various inputs, including the Throttle position.
But you do have a "throttle" cable. http://web.archive.org/web/201408160...32prelimin.pdf It doesn't control WHEN the transmission shifts, but rather how hard it shifts (harder at greater throttle opening). Never hurts to check the adjustment, though.

Those things don't just fall out of adjustment when the truck has been running fine for months. Plus it wouldn't cause my trans to shift eradically. My guess is the sensor is defective throwing random voltages and the TCM sees that as me constantly punching the gas and letting off. Plus TPS sensors are $11 on eBay. Hope it works
