Mainly pickups from 86-95 - some 4Runners too (86-87 I think) Stay away from "auto" hubs though. Look for "IFS Lock Outs"

EDIT: Oops - guess you can hear it twice...

Just put the manual hubs on, Ether brand.

So no one ever has any problems with the ADD not working ?

Coming from the Jeep world, Jeeps used a similar vacuum activated system to lock the front axle in. This is in YJ's (ended in '95) and us usually nothing but problems. Vacuum lines pulling out, rotting, etc.
Most people, who wheel, with YJ's usually remove that system and just replace it with a seal and solid axle on that side.

Seems to be relatively simply to "lock" the axle in, permanently.
Is there a reason why it's not recommended to disable the ADD (with the addition of manual hubs) ?

Nope, I ran Aisin manual IFS hubs for years on my '91 4Runner with all ADD still intact.

No problemo...

Also bought mine for $50.
Took them apart and greased them up, and shot with fresh red paint to make 'em look purdy.

this could solve my electrical problem with the ADD system. yanking out the ADD relay disables the system

You dont really want to "disable" it you want to permanently enable it. Yanking out the relay without other mods will give you perm 2wd. You need to make the ADD fork be engauged all the time.

In my 95 I had hubs and left the ADD working. This way in winter I could lock the hubs and be back to shift-on-the-fly without the driveshaft always spinning.

I bought my '94 with ADD not working in 2000; the dealer installed a new ADD chunk for $150 plus labor (@$200). No problems since then. I almost had the two vacuum lines melted in two on my manifold (had to reroute them), but it's worked fine since I had it fixed..
