94 v6 altinator

Planning to instal a mild sound system in my 94 with a factory alt. Im planning to run about 1200 watts total and wanted to know if the factory alt will keep up or do I need to get a high output alt from LCE? I guess I dont even know how many watts this factory alt is good for?

All forums are dying. It's been happening for years.

I'm think there is a bolt on upgrade you can get off another vehicle with maybe a pulley swap for way under the $400 LCE is charging for theirs. Search on here or Google for it. I know it's been talked about before

The FSM will give amp output of the oem alternator in the specifications section.
or you can pull the alternator and have it tested.

1987 4runner is 60 amps. I'd figure a 1994 V6 a bit higher

I did a quick search, and it is 60A, and there are 70A and up direct bolt-on replacements available.

Just an FYI also, I had a Zr2 blazer back in 03 and threw an obnoxiously loud system in it, I had a 1000w JL mono for my sub and a 500/4 amp for my mids, I had to go with another battery to compensate for the draw when I wanted to be stupid with it. Just an alternator putting out higher amps isn’t the only answer, the draw will dim your lights regardless of alt output.

BUT 1200 watts you may be able to pull it off, it’s hard to say depending on a lot of variables. Lots of car audio forums out there also, you may be able to get an idea on a good set up combing over those.

Report back what you end up doing!!!!

For what it's worth, I ran 2 JL Audio 10s on a 700w amp along with 2 6x9s on a 300w amp in my 93 for over 10 years on a junkyard alternator.
I'm not sure the difference of the 3.4 alternator, but I put 2 Kicker 12s in my girlfriend's 99 runner on a 1500w amp a couple years ago, no issues there either.
