94 Pickup Rostra Issues

I’ve had a Rostra cruise control in my 94 Pickup (22re/AT) for over 6 years. Over the past month, the speedometer started fluctuating +/- 5mph when the cruise started accelerating. It does it until i come to a stop.

Anyone had these issues before or know what may be causing it?

Thanks,

EH

Posting to lots of forums and just using cut and paste with your message?

Welcome to YotaTech.

You probably have the electronic speedometer. When the sensor starts to fail, the speedometer will drop (to zero?) and then pop back up. As it progresses, the time "dropped" increases. (But I wouldn't describe it as fluctuating ...)

The sensor can be tested, but since it's an intermittent problem, you may have a tough time catching it while malfunctioning.

Yes.. I like to see if I get any different responses from multiple sources.

It doesn't drop to zero... If I set the cruise at 70, it fluctuates from 60-75 and continues to do that until I come to a stop.

well if you are sure its the cruise control just unplug it. then you can rule it out.. otherwise you obviously already have your answer, the speed sensor is bad, as scope said

Does this problem ONLY happen with the Cruise Control?

I would take Keycw's advice and unplug the cruise control from your wiring harness and see how the speedometer works with the cruise control disconnected.
