94 4runner turning radius right vs left? 4WD?

NOOB! first 4wd vehicle
Just bought a 94 4runner (SR5 4WD 3.0 5sp) and I notice a difference in the turning radius. Left; it turns on a dime. Right; is wider-quite noticeable. there is no rubbing of tire/wheel to be detected. It is not bothersome, but is it normal?
Also, other than the obvious off-roading whats the best way to determine if the 4wd is engaged and working (I thought there'd be indicators on the dash that the 4WD is engaged)
Thanks in advance

Your bumpstops could be busted.

There is a light on the dash that pops up when you put in 4wd. the bulb might have gone out in the dash board. My truck tends to have just the slightest vibration when i am hard on the throttle in 4wd vs 2wd. crude but you might beable to tell that way or put it in 4wd and then climb underneath it and see if you can turn the drive shaft.

OK, what is a bumpstop? Also, when climbing under, should I be able to turn the drive shaft when in 4WD or shouldn't it turn?
Thanks for getting me this info - really a beginner

The only way I was able to tell I was locked in 4wd was to hook a chain around a power pole in my yard and try to pull it. Then I could tell my tires were spinning. My 4wd indicator light doesnt work either.

if your 4wd is engaged you will not be able to make turns easily on pavement. when you try to the truck will buck and the wheels will hop. if you are at a low enough speed and try to turn, the truck will just stop. do not try to drive around like this.

OK, did the dry pavement maneuvering, no hopping or bucking - turns just like in H2. Where would I start to solve the problem?

Sorry for all the questions, little by little I'm going to get it running right.

there are little bumpstops that are on the front of your spindles, they are designed to contact the lower control arm on a little slide. download this pic and zoom in on it. you can see what i'm talking about right in front of the lower ball joint.

go look at yours, they are probly busted or somehow way out of adjustment.
