94 4runner smokes/low on power

Bought the truck about a month and a half ago, never used to burn oil. about a week after that it started to burn a little oil at startup...not a huge deal it went right away after a second or so and that was it. it has increasingly gotten worse on startup and just 3 days ago for the first time it started smoking after I had gotten off the freeway and was in a drive through and upon acceleration a huge plume of smoke comes out (about 1600 rpm).

ever since then, it smokes more on startup and on acceleration as well, sometimes making a weird noise like someone is shaking a ball bearing in a mason jar under the hood, then a whole bunch of smoke follows. also, when you stop the engine and restart as soon as 30 seconds later it will smoke quite a bit. it tends to smoke under a load, even in gear foot on the brake at about 1600-1800 rpm it will do what i described

sounds like you have a serious motor failure. Is this a 4 cylinder or v6?

dissconnect the vacuum lines from power steering idle upvalve. They are known to leak internally and allow the oil to be sucked into the motor. If its not valve then you need to start looking for a motor. How do the plugs look?

Is the smoke white or blueish black?? White you are burning coolant, blue/black is oil...Let me know what color, then we can go from there..

I will check out the P/S which by the way leaks like hell, its going to the shop for that this week.

smoke is blue, HG was replaced not 10,000 miles ago by previous owner, coolant temp has always been stable

sounds like the valve is bad then. remove the valve, go a hardware store and find a bolt or threaded plug that matches the size and threads of the valve and plug the hole in the power steering pump. Then just buy some rubber caps from a car parts store to plug the ports that the vacuum lines went to. Or just find another valve.

If you check the spark plugs and all look the same it maybe the PS oil. If one SP is oil fouled then it is most likely the valve spring or the valve itself.
