94 4runner quit

I was driving my 94 4runner today, and it just quit. I know it has gas. I took off the air cleaner hose and gave it a shot of starting fluid and it still dosen't turn over. I checked fuses under my dash all are good. Its a 3.0 liter and i don't have a cluse. Any help would be much appreciated.

So by "doesn't turn over" you mean it cranks but won't start? Or do you mean that the key turned doesn't do anything?

I don't know how to test for spark. I would imagine that's the problem. I have petro in it. I've been reading and it seems it's some type of relay, perhaps?

How many miles on it? The reason I ask if it cranks but won't start, is that is a much different troubleshooting tree than not cranking at all

Carl, it cranks fine. Not turning over any faster like I broke the timing chain. I was going along fine and it just quit. I dropped into 4th gear and it fired back up again, but when I tried to give it gas there was no response. I put it in 3rd and popped the clutch again and I fired back up, but there was no response again when I pushed the accelerator. Got it to the side of the road and it would crank but wouldn't start, had a friend tow me back home.

K. I'd start checking coil, distributor, and ignition. To check spark pull a plug wire and stick a random plug in it, ground to block, and have someone crank. Or grab a spark tester from auto parts store n follow directions. Probably wouldn't hurt to pull dist cap, and check the rotor turns while cranking.
