94 4runner CEL code 25?
I just purchased a 94 4runner with the hopes of a reliable vehicle, and I am starting to encounter a few problems. First off the truck is a 94 3.0 3VZE v6 Auto 4x4. The other day, I had a problem starting it I went to turn it over, and got just a single click/bump about 5-6 times, and then it started right up, has started fine ever since. I thought that it may be the starter contacts needing to be replaced. Yesterday coming home from work, the CEL came on and threw out error code 25 indicating running lean. It is also seeming to run a little rough at idle, and seems a little more smokey at start up. Anyone here have any suggestions on where to start, and if these two problems may be related? I was planning on getting it smogged, but its looking like its out of the question for a while.
Thanks in Advance!

Could be a number of things like clogged injectors, faulty AFM, bad o2 sensor, or like CappyKD said, cracks or leaks between the AFM and the intake plenum.

I do realize that it could be many issues, I was just trying to see if others have experienced similar problems, and if so, What did they did to fix the problem, and if there was something that commonly fails, in which would bring up code 25. I am new to toyota's so I am somewhat unaware to the common issues. I am used to my Audi A4 (aka never ending money pit) which doesn't have common issues, it has issues with everything!

I had the same issue, and fixed it by replacing the o2 sensor. But before I replaced it, I started by checking for any type of leaks in between the AFM and intake plenum. That one is usually the culprit. Those plastic/rubber connections often crack with age. Mine happened to be fine, so I went straight to the o2 sensor, which fixed it.

I just discovered that my problem may have been the beginning stages of a blown HG, or maybe Ill fix the HG and still have a problem, I dont know. Now i am getting huge plumes of white sweet smelling smoke out the rear, and my coolant smells like exhaust, i just went through this with my Audi, so I am 99% sure the HG is blown. I have one on the way, and ordered the timing belt kit, and a bunch of other crap to replace. I was also experiencing some starting issues along with the CEL light coming on. All of which could be due to the blown head gasket. I dont know why, but the starting issue on my Audi went away when i repaired the HG on it. If i dont get into too much of a hurry i will take some pics and do a write up on a HG repair. Ill keep you posted on my findings as well.

what did you find? i have code 25 coming up on my 93 i checked my hoses between Afm and housing. i just changed my plugs and they looked like my ratio was really lean... for a long time... when i got the truck no codes were coming up and it was running fine.. i just got my catalytic gasket replaced and between that and the tailpipe i have a flex pipe? could this be the culprit?
