93 T100 engine swap options
My dad has a 93 T100 6cyl auto and wants to swap in a stronger/newer engine. The truck is in great shape, but the engine is on it's way out. What are some ideal donor vehicles/engines to hunt for? Direct bolt-in would be great. Advice or direction would be appreciated.

Only direct bolt in is the same 3.0L. Later models came with the 3.4L V6.
More involved, but certainly more power would be the Lexus 1UZFE (4.0L V8) or a small block Chevy motor.
What trans?

I have a 3.4L from a 97 T100 for sale if you want to do a conversion: ($650)

The later T100's v6 sounds like an option.
How about Tacoma's? I'd take the tranny too..even transfer case.

ok..the current engine just blew.
For now we're just going to try to find another 3.0 and throw it in.
Will any of the 4runner 3.0s bolt right up or are the mounts different?

If the engine is gone, I would really recommend trying to find a good 3.4 set up to put in it. It should be even more straight forward than dropping it into a truck, like a lot of us have. You would definitely appreciate the extra power for your bigger T-100.
If you think you can do a 3.0 swap on your own, then you can do the 3.4, too. Look into it - I'm sure that you'd like it!

well the transmission is an automatic - I understand that = more $$$ for a 3.4 swap. Is it still worth it? I'd love to throw in a 3.4, but I don't want to get carried away. Need advice here.
