Well we finished up the build (although a trucks never "finished") on my sis' Runner a few months ago. Thought Id post up a few pics. It was definitely a time consuming challenge to get the 4" Superlift installed, but after some perserverance we got'r'done. We bought it used so it came as 2 big boxes full of unlabelled parts with a lack of instructions.
It took some patience but is all worth it in the end, as most projects are!

At first we cut out a bunch of wheel well rust caused by the useless little chrome trim from the factory. Put on some OEM JDM flares, painted frame, rockers, stock wheels and parts of the tailgate. It had the typical tailgate rot up top so we cut, grinded, sanded and bondo'd it up. We'll see how it holds up.
Stock height on 32's.



Most of the rear lift finished:


Onto the IFS front...
New crossmembers, diff drop brackets, bumpstop extensions, lift knuckles, swaybar drop brackets, brakeline brackets, new upper and lower ball joints, and new CA's w/ poly bushings and some seriously seized and stubborn CA bolts.


Most of the front in here, we ran procomp shocks and had to trim the bumpstop mounts to get them in. Ended up doing inner and outer TRE's after this shot cause when we tried to do a 'tape measure alignment' the adjusting sleeves crumbled...

Then we went wheelin'!! And realized the AT's had to go, so we started looking for a good set of 33" MT's, and put on a set of rockcrawlers.



Picked up a set of 33x12.50 DC Mud country's and went winter wheelin'






Got stuck in some snow so I hooked up my Heep

Hopefully this will help someone someday looking for info about the Superlift, and Ill be checking in here as well. Just about as many Yota's in my family as Heeps.

Thanks man and yea haha no kidding! We just put the stock one back on but the bottom bolts obviously don't line up anymore so its just on with the top 2...we'll see how it holds.



Gotta love the snow!! Lockers....definitely nice to have! It sees alot of highway across Alberta and BC etc so we'll keep it open for now...

Thanks! Next is probably some sort of a tire carrier, the 33" spare is in the way inside so I was thinking of a maybe a stock swingout but will have to research how much weight they can hold. I also thought of a roof basket for the tire, but I just dont like putting all that weight up top...

Superlift used to make a nice skidplate for their lift (maybe they still do). If you can find one they are beefy 1/4" steel, or mine is anyway.

 

Where did you get the flares? My googlefu is week today.

Oh nice, mounts to the top bolt holes? And where on the bottom?


I bought them used online, they are off a JDM hilux runner. I think the same ones came on some USDM runners as well. We painted them with a bedliner type rattlecan and they mount right up to the OEM holes.

Right on, thanks for the pic. We will probably try to fab something like that up in the future forsure, def a good idea. For now we'll rock the stock one, it's actually pretty sturdy but we'll see how she holds up after a couple hits...haha.

whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa........Mt. Goat.......whats up with your steering? how did THAT come along!?!?!?!?

 

The SL skid plate also adds extra strength to the bracket lift, something many people don't realize. Think about if you run into a dip or ditch head-on, that skid helps prevent the front brackets from bending backward. Similar to how kickers help prevent the rear brackets from bending (another optional SL component).

You must have noticed my extra idler arm in the center huh. That was part of the old SL design, they don't make them like that anymore. Too bad because it helps save the factory idler from bending.

Yeah, I keep getting the steering link recall notices but I haven't had the factory steering link for 14 years. I should go in sometime just to see the look on the techs face when he looks at it.
