93 Runner 3VZE transmission R151?

I have a 93 runner 3zve with v6 and 4x4 5spd manual that I recently ordered a new motor for. I have also decided to got ahead and swap the tranny since it has over 200k on it. I called two different Toyota dealerships and was told according to my vin that I have an R150F transmission which is the one for the model with motor and 4x4. I have tried numerous sources for remanufactured transmissions so far and only 3 that have been somewhat helpful have told me that show an R151 for that year and it is the same. Is it the same and if now will this transmission work and be a direct swap? Thanks in advance!

Your 4runner has a R150 trans. The R151 is the trans that was in the older turbo trucks. It will not bolt in as it was for the 4 cylinder. I think you could use your existing R150 bell housing on a R151 and it will bolt up. The benefit of the R151 is it has a lower first gear.

well im not really looking to do any modifying or using a tranny that isn't a direct swap. Anyone know of any remanufactured tranny sources that have the R150F?
