93 4Runner Lowering Rear window

I just purchased a 93 4Runner. Does anyone have a way to manually lower the rear window to get the rear hatch door down. I removed the panel and everything is locked up with rust. Thanks in advance !

have you tried applying power directly to the motor plug to see if it will operate? give that a try and see if it operates the motor to drop the real glass for you.

failing that, check out www.4crawler.com , look for rear window cheap tricks/fixes. let us know how you make out.

I'm pretty sure you can remove the motor and regulator with the tailgate up, but it will be a pain to do that while sitting in the cargo area. Put the rear seatbacks down to give you more room to work, and get a buddy to help you out so that you don't end up dropping the glass down into the door when you start unbolting the regulator. I've never done it this way, but having taken everything apart with the tailgate down, I'm pretty sure it can be done with the tailgate up also.

yup, better be a very good buddy, its close quarters in there! just make sure you have a good hold on the glass when you take out the motor. you dont want that thing coming down unexpectedly and giving you or your buddy a manicure.

I know it is do-able. My friend in his 4runner locked his keys in his and has a nice rusty tailgate and all he used was a pair of plyers to get the window down
