93 4runner, alternator problem?

i have a 93 4runner and i think i might have a bad alternator or something, cause im not getting much power on my volt meter, just wanted to know if anyone has any ideas of where to look first, other than getting a new alternator. to see if its something else.

Your going to have to be a little more specific, I havn't quite got the hang of mind control yet.

What is the voltage reading, do you have an alternator light on the dash?

With the engine running, the voltage across the battery terminals should be 13.2-14.5 volts. There could be a problem with the brushes, diodes, or regulator. This site has some really good articles on various Toyota systems, including the charging system. Tells you all about how to test the charging system: http://autoshop101.com/

Search Yotatech for "alternator" and you should find some threads on alternator problems and fixes folks here have had.

Then again it may have nothing to do with the Alternator itself.

I had a low reading upgraded the grounds to #1 welding cable replaced about 2 foot of the wire that comes off the B trrminal.

This was after the last owner put in a rebuilt alternator got disgusted it didn`t fix the problem and sold the truck
