'93 3VZ intake Plenum Hardware
Hey all,
I just got through with a timing belt change on my 3VZE and had to take the intake plenum off.
When I was Torquing down the intake plenum bolts, every one of them felt like they were going to snap and unfortunately I snapped the rear stud off when I was torquing the nut on...
Does anyone know where I could find a replacement set of intake Plenum Hardware including the studs? Also, does anyone know if those studs that the plenum aligns with can even be removed?

The studs should come out by double nutting them.
All threads and holes should have a tap/die passed over them and cleaned n lightly oiled before reassembly.
I doubt that Toyota offers an complete 'kit'.
There isn't anything special there that you shouldn't be able to get from Fastenal, or most ace hardware stores, for that matter.

I never thought about that as a source; You do that for bearing cradle and head bolts too? Or, I guess grade 8 or whatever - is what it is?

Head bolts that are 'torque to yield' might be something special. I don't know about them.
Most bolts are marked with commonly identifiable standards though.

The labeling for bolt strength is given right in the FSM: http://web.archive.org/web/201007280.../8standard.pdf Along with torques.
The Toyota head bolts aren't Torque-To-Yield (they are Torque-to-Angle; completely different), but since they have integral washers and the like, I wouldn't try to replace them with "generic" bolts.
"Grade 8" is an SAE specification. 8T is no longer used for Metric bolts (try 8.8), but for the applications you describe (e.g., bearing cradle) 8.8 should be plenty.

I actually ordered (and have received) head bolts from yota1. And my machinists recommended replacing any TTY bolts. Maybe TtoAngle means unneeded swap? HIDK.
So I also had ordered cradle and connecting rod replacement bolts from McGeorge toyota.
/aside toyotapartsdeal may have been cheaper, but they were looking at a month for THEM to receive and then forward to me. Nah. Especially since last fall I was just going todo a timing belt etc, and they did not ship the water pump. Took a month for me to get back to town, realize "Hey! No water pump!". Too bad. Too long to ask. So pretty much done ordering stuff from TPD now.
Besides, I got what I believe is a toyota brand water pump from Off Road Solutions. Best price anyway!. Win.

Toyota has a TSB saying you DON'T have to replace head bolts.
Of course, that was 25+ years ago, when everything in your truck (including you) was newer. If it helps you sleep at night, replace as many bolts as you like. It's not a lot of money.
