6 yrs. ago, I just took a hacksaw, and removed the 'web' between the #2 and #3 runners. Took all of 15 seconds. Couple licks with a file and it looks fine. If you need to get that manifold completely out of the engine bay, all you do is lift the wiring up through that notch and lay it off towards the firewall. Probably have to disconnect the OP, Starter, Knock Sensor wire to gain enough slack.. but saves a pile of time on having to disconnect either the ecm or all the trans/ o2 wires and working with increasingly brittle plugs and wiring looms.
Otherwise, just lay the manifold off to the side and work with it with the wire still trapped.

I recently helped my brother replace the 22r engine in my 95 toyota pickup. One of my fuel injectors is spewing gas from the fuel rail connection. I did some research, bough o rings and gaskets, grabbed my tools and got started. I removed all the necessary bolts, making sure to check (as a precaution) for the Alan bolt present below the thermostats on the 22re. I'm certain inhave a 22r. There is no alan/hex bolt on this engine. However, getting the upper manifold to separate from the lower is proving a nightmare. When it was installed, we used a new gasket and silicone rtv. Any advise for getting it loose without breaking something would b greatly appreciated. At the moment, it does not move at all without moving the rest of the engine. That's some good rtv. Lol. But seriously, I'd b externally greatly to get this done.
