Yeah i've been without a computer for a few weeks. The old mac fried the mother board so we had to get a new one. Looks like you're moving along. You should make a video of the motor starting up for the first time. I will speak for everyone following this thread when i say we would all like to see you get this done!

there will be a video...that's for certain. but being the pessimist / realist i am, i'm assuming i'm gonna get a "click" and then the profanity will start.....either that or it will run, shake and seize-up....and then more profanity.
if it starts , runs and purrs, there will be a thud of me hitting the floor.

yes yes yes
but like i said, pinched for time...the last thing i want to do is rush something and frig it all up..
i have that diff supported with 2 jacks right now...1 to keep it up and the other to keep it from doing the old nose dive again......
I'm pretty sure clearance is not going to be an issue unlike ROGERMAN's experience, but I won't know until I get there.

It was snowin' on and all all day today here. It's the middle of friggin' spring, we don't need this crap! However, unlike you, some work did get done on someone's truck today, a few of us from SONTT were out freezin' our nuts off helping (well ok, I stood around and watched since so many of us were there) one of our compatriots put a Warn rear on his FJC after his stock bumper had been damaged getting kissed by a Mini Cooper. I doubt he'll ever have to worry about getting rear-ended by a Mini ever again, that bumper would CRUSH it.

Robb...I've said it before, this started off as a repair. IE" the "GOTTA START SOMEWHERE" title and has turned into a humongous learning experience.
if it's more fitting in the BUILD section, since essentially that's kinda what it is, then that's fine with me.
personally I don't see why it would have to be moved anywhere, but that's not my call.
i will post up some pertinent pics etc to put this thing back on track.
i'm gonna assume you helped me when I called, so thanks.

thanks.
work today and tomorrow.
FIPG on the block or the pan or both?
my concern is smearing it all over the place trying to wiggle that pan in. i guess it doesn't really matter which surface it's on as long as it's a consistent bead.
maybe my wife will operate the jack for me on wednesday......or kill me with it...

I read on an oil pan thread or two here about not cranking it all the way down. Add your fipg, put it in place, tighten until the fipg starts coming out the sides. Let it firm up a little then torque to specs. Not sure if it really matters. I didn't do that with my rear third, just cleaned surfaces, spread fipg, align diff, and torque down and I have zero leaks.
Not sure if you were planning this method. Makes sense in theory, pretty sure its not ACTUALLY needed to get it done.

Just checking in to see the progress on your "research." Maybe soon we will the "development"
