92 4Runner: No power under acceleration

On the way home from a trip today my 4Runner (3vze) starting stumbling and losing power under acceleration. The RPM's would not go above 2000 and could barely up to 15mph, up a hill was 5mph or less. Pulled off into a parking lot and checked all fluid levels and listened for any air leaks. Didnt notice any leaks and all fluids and temps were good to go. No CEL lite and no codes when I checked for those also.

After the truck sat for 10 mins or so and i refired it everything seemed normal for a few miles then is started acting up again with no power under acceleration even with the pedal mashed to the floor.

Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil are all a year old and OEM. I have a feeling its more electrical than mechanical. Any ideas out there will be helpful I just need to be pointed in the right direction.

I hear that but, this has nothing to do with it being a 3.slow, its currently 3.NoGo at the moment. Very uneasy feeling on a 45mph highway and the truck is only going 10mph.

yeah, just poking fun. I don't know what would be doing that Sudden changes like that point to electriclal for me. Fuel pump?? My jeep (whoops 4 letter word) did nearly the same thing on a long trip once. turned out to be the fuel pump. Short of that I would have no idea.

I would like to add that no smoke from tailpipe. On the fuel issue I was going to change the fuel filter and test the fuel pressure. I jsut wish if it was electrical a code would show up to point me in the right direction.

3.NoGo

You should patent that, its funny.

Sounds like a clogged fuel filter, fuel pump filter, or the fuel pump is on its way out.

I had that happen once and it ended up that my air filter was clogged with bees.

I'd say fuel filter too. Had an '83 pu that acted just as described and got progressively worse till my brain kicked in and I figured it out. Plus you'd be getting a trouble code if an electrical component was causing that much havoc.
