was it doing that before or was it better?

does sound like the CST is bad pull it an check its readings (just incase a wire is involved) give it a good clean bright shiny brass then test it again a lot of the sensors get crusty an stop working right

these are mine when i did my engine rebuild

It's way better. It use to sputter for about 20 seconds and die n not start until it cooled off a bit. But it sputter a couple times then fired right up. Where is the cst located?

borrowed from another thread here on yota tech

the bottom picture shows their location on the engine now this isnt absolute if the engine has ever been touched before the switches might be in different spots so grain of salt here

Seen from the front of the engine, right to left, they are:

1. Engine Coolant Temp Sender
2. Engine Coolant Temp Sensor
3. Cold Start Injector Time Switch
4. Engine Coolant Temp Switch
5. TVV/BVSV for the EVAP

The black plug should be the cold start injector time switch

PNC 89422 is the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor
PNC 89462 is the Cold Start Injector Time Switch
PNC 89428A is the Engine Coolant Temp Switch for the E.F.I.(not for the A/C, or the A/T)

Blue arrow: Engine coolant temp switch
Red arrow: Engine coolant temp sensor
Yellow arrow: Engine coolant temp sender
Green arrow: Cold start injector time switch

shows location on engine

ok well the CSI is on the opposite side of the engine from the throttle body it has a black electrical connector on it and the banjo fuel line the bolt into it is hollow allowing fuel to feed into the injector

looking at ebay 25 an up for it used new you'll likely have to go to the dealer if you get used you'll need to get a couple copper banjo seals otherwise you'll have a fuel leak

Cold start valve, coolant temp sensor both replaced. The sensor seemed like it kind of helped. But it's more or less getting more fuel than it needs starting up. Thinking it may be the injector o rings have gone bad.

Solved

Kept having this until I replaced the fuel pump back in 2017. Ran great until I spun a rod bearing.
