91 4runner 3.0 rebuild

I have a 91 4runner with the very popular 3.0l v6 lol. I have the engine tore down to just the block and internals. I have found two bottom end bearings that need to be replaced but I have decided to just go ahead and do a full rebuild. I have been looking here and there on line to find full rebuild kits and have come across a wide range of prices. So I am looking for any information and experiences in this area. Such as shops and or kits used that are good or ones to stay away from. Are the kits listed on ebay worth a crap? Any info on recomended head gaskets to use and other things to look for. I live near Portland Oregon so if there are any local shops that are reputable; that may have rebuild kits as well as shops that I can take the block in to have cleaned and fully preped for the rebuild. Any info and help is greatly appreciated.

i can't help ya with the shops..i'm from Oklahoma..but i can help you with the rebuild stuff!!!

Check out Rockauto.com!

that's where i've ordered my parts from, and alot of times, you can get OE parts instead of the cheap aftermarket crap...like some of those ebay kits.

just check out rockauto.com

i haven't had any trouble with em either, and a lot of people recommend them!

hell Engnbldr.com orders his parts from rockauto (some of them) and he's a VERY VERY reputable toyota mechanic.

also check out my 3vz rebuild thread, it might help ya, might raise more questions than answers though lmao
