90 pickup diagnostics issue

I have a 90 pickup, 4x4 automatic, 2.4l. I'm trying to run the TE1-E1 diagnostics but all I'm getting is a constant flashing engine light. It doesn't stop. I've done this before years ago and it worked fine. Any ideas as to the problem, or what I might be doing wrong?

Constant flashing CEL means No Codes. What were you expecting?

My truck will just shut off sometimes, intermittently. Without warning, and all the dash indicator lights will light up when it happens. Thought I would check the diagnostics to see if it might have a code. Any ideas? thank you.

So ive as of late seen that in the wake of driving for a decent 20 minutes, this quick clicking commotion begins happening at whatever point im in nonpartisan. Do any of you all have at least some idea what the issue is? I cant appear to sort it out.

That early diagnostic system wasn't terribly sophisticated. Whatever occurred happened in such a way that the system didn't recognize it as a failure.
If you can instantly restart the vehicle that will make things tough. If it stays inop for awhile you'll have an easier time.
Assuming it restarts easily, techs will generally get it running and start by inspecting connections and gently jostling looms/wiring around to see if they can reproduce the failure.
By your description I'd focus on possibly a bad wire repair that needs to be redone, or a poor connection. The best place to find a wiring issue is under the driver's dash area. This is where owners often installed accessories (especially alarms.) And because of the cramped space, it's often done poorly.
