89 Yota Finally Beat Me....

Well, the 89 yota pickup finally broke me. Been driving it for 3 days after dumping over $2000 into it and then all of a sudden, sputter, sputter, die. For some reason it is not pumping fuel even with the jumper wire. I checked for power back at the pump and it is getting power, so I guess maybe the pump went bad even though it is brand new. This truck has a brand new tank, pickup, sending unit, fuel pump, fuel line, clutch, radiator, plugs, cap, rotor, wires, air filter, front calipers, brake pads, master cylinder, and tires. What do you think might be wrong and what do you think I could get out of the truck if I sell it, which I probably am. Right now I just have too much stuff going on to mess with it. Here's some pics. Feel free to make me some offers...lmao.

Truck also has brand new exhaust from exhaust manifold back...another $250.

I;d buy the whole truck if you know what was wrong with it and you're close by New Mexico

Not running that's a $1000 truck at most...

I'd suggest figuring it out and fixing it first.

Don't know what it is about that truck but I love the way it looks. What size Bighorns are those?

Not sure where the snow is....typical michigan winter.

The truck runs really well when it gets gas..lmao. The big horns are 31x10.50-15's.

Ok, I know it is getting gas to the fuel rail, but no fuel is coming out the return line??? Anyone know why it won't let the fuel back to the tank? The truck will start up, run for 15 secs, then die again. Getting a 51 code, but I set the tps up the way it says to, and the truck ran great for 3 days. Any ideas of the fuel return or other things to check for code 51?

By the way, first person that would give me $1500 for this truck can have it. Over $2000 invested just in parts.

When you set the TPS did you make absolutely certain that it was tight when you were done? I would definitely do a recheck on the setting.
Code 51 also shows up on an A/C circuit problem, but that wouldn't cause your problem.
Did you check the coil and igniter to see if they are in spec? Too much resistance maybe?
Manual also leads to the NSW (Neutral Start Switch) which i believe is for an automatic, but you also have a clutch start switch .

I'm going to recheck the tps tomorrow. Any idea why fuel is not coming out of the valve at the end of the fuel rail to go back to the tank??

Check the pressure at the rail. Fuel only returns to the tank when the pressure is satisfied at the regulator. Did you replace the filter sock in the tank and clean out any rust particles?

Everything is brand new except the fuel rail and injectors....tank is new, pickup is new, fuel pump is new, sending unit is new, fuel lines are new. Hopefully I can get if figured out so I can sell it. It was a great truck for about 3 days till this....the rest of the truck is damn near new now...lol. Like I said, I have over $2000 just in parts and thats not including the truck itself.
