89 truck jerks in when taking off in foward gears

Well i Just traded my 1987 toyota truck for an 89 ext cab V6. body is in very good condition couple dings but nothing major. it is a 5 spd. well anyways when taking off it jerks like crazy unless i ride the clutch alot or untill i get over 2500 rpm. and sometimes while going down the road in any gear really it will start to jerk like that.

sounds to me like the flywheel is not perfectly flat, maybe a clutch was installed without re-surfacing the flywheel or if it hasn't been replaced the clutch may be giving out.

no idea what condition the clutch is in. the truck has 176xxx miles on it. the clutch seems to grab good. i tried to do a burn out and dropped the clutch it grabbed good but as soon as it grabbed it jerked and grabbed again. it does not matter if the truck is just started or has been driving for a while it will do it when ever. but i also think it is the clutch. will probably put a clutch in it this weekend.

I second the idea of a warped Fly Wheel.

well i just drove it for about 50 miles and the clutch did not slip. drove pretty good, heard some spark knock but not too bad. checked the plugs this afternoon and they barely had any electrode left on it. i dont understand why it wont jerk around when in reverse. only going forward. 1st gear does it bad and so does second. third every now and then. i tried letting the clutch out a little with the e-brake and it sounds like the engine is just shutting off, and sometimes it does if you dont give it enough throttle.

I just purchased a 2002 Tacoma 4x4 from a dealer and am having the exact same problem. Because the "clutch feels tight" and it "isnt slipping" the dealer is saying theres nothing wrong with the truck and thats just the way it drives.

Any help would greatly be appreiciated.

There's oil or other contamination on the clutch surface.
