Question 89 Pickup (22RE) Headlamp Switch Wiring [SOLVED]

I have and 89 pickup (with the 22RE - although that shouldn't matter for this). I'm horrible about turning off the lights (my commuter car turns them off, and my wife's has an alarm).

My plan:
Reconnect the switch so it's not connected to an always hot wire.

My questions:
Which wire (this is probably the original switch) do I need to move?
Which wire should I connect that one to?
Where's the easiest place to get at them?

I've been digging around here and elsewhere online, but cannot find a wiring diagram that includes the headlamp switch; I find diagrams for 89 Toyota pickups that don't include the headlamp switch, and I find diagrams that include the headlamp switch for other vehicles.

Ok, I know it's kinda of ridiculous to reply to one's own post without another posting between, but...

I've been doing a little more research (it's been a bit of a back burner project). Is this something that can be done by changing the wiring at the relay/fuse box?

I'd use the IGN and TAIL fuse in your application. This depends on the piezo buzzer working as a diode; I think that's true but i can't confirm it. (It will take you about 10 seconds to find out; touch the piezo buzzer's wires to the battery; if reversing the wires shuts it off, you're good to go. Otherwise, you'll need a $0.10 diode to go with it.)

Because you have blade fuses (not round glass), you'll want a fuse-tap like this one: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/d...606/22141273-P

Finally got this done. Thanks, scope103 for getting me pointed the right way.

I ordered some wire, a pack of fuse taps, and a two-pack of beepers (w/ flasher).
I wired one up between the IGN and TAIL fuses. Easy-peasy.
Testing is where it got fun:
  1. Turned on the lights w/ the ignition off - it started beeping and flashing like it should.
  2. Turned the ignition on w/ the lights still on (to make sure it turned off) - it was quiet as can be.
  3. Turned off the lights (getting ready to shut down) - found out that the beeper is NOT dioded; it started going off.
  4. Turned off the ignition (planning to rip it back out) - it shut up.

So, if you do this and it's not dioded, you have to turn on the lights whenever the ignition is on. If it is, you just need to make sure it's wired the right way around. or you'll just be told to turn on your lights when you start up.

I didn't bother with a diode. I just turn on the lights - fairly normal for me anyway.
