Had to switch over from the mobile site to get full resolution, seems the mobile stylesheets aren't up to the task..
I don't see anything really obvious, but that doesn't mean much I'm still on a smaller screen viewing. Maybe that coil isn't attached it looks like it has an issue, from here, thru the window is that wire dangling?

I was gifted with an 86 4runner. The window and door master switch in the armrest had melted, cause unknown. I managed to piece another one together from two leftovers, but still had no function. Thanks to this thread, I found the rotted solder link as per the illustration, followed the suggested remedy, and now have a functioning master window control. My thanks to all of you. You'd best believe I've bookmarked this link.

My Brother in law has an 89 Toyota 4Runner with the 3.0L Engine.
His power windows stopped working in him, So I offered to come over and help him fix his problem. Well 3 hours later, and still nothing.
We are not getting power to the switches. anyone know where the relay is ?
IT IS NOT HERE Like mentioned on 4Crawlers Site
We looked all under the dash, Nothing, in the kick pannels, behind the seat belt re-tractor,
Some one on here must know !
I searched. no luck.

Here is your window relay. By the back seat driver side. Take off all trim surrounding and behind panel of back seat.

Recently picked up an 87 4R. Has some power window blues. Passenger works every once in a while, mostly in the down direction. The seller got it to work by squeezing from either side of the door. I took it apart and cleaned the switch and poked around. Tested it and the motor worked with a gusto but then didn't respond again for a little while. I found the power window control unit behind the driver seat like Starks shows above here. Looks different than any of the other ones pictured so far... And i can't see anything obviously wrong . There might be some corrosion underneath the surface of the green finish? Looks ominous. Any thoughts on this would be very much appreciated.

So I fixed mine. Pretty sure it was a combination of problems in the driver's side master switch.
1: Pin 2 on passenger window switch had a ring of corrosion under the rivet head (See pic). I drilled that out, cleaned, re-soldered and epoxied it from the top to keep the spring up.
2: That all of the switches seemed to have too little throw when pressing down on the brass leaf-springs. This was especially true with the door lock switch - meaning that my windows weren't actually "broken" per se, but just locked. I added very small blobs of 5 minute epoxy to the tips of the bits on the switches that press down on the brass leaf springs to add just a little throw (I actually overdid it and had to sand the epoxy down a little), cleaned up the switches with some vinegar and it seems good to go (for now).

hey all. I can't believe this, but it's my first post?
anyway, just to add to this old thread...
Our front windows stopped working also. 88 4runner DLX
rear window was long ago jumpered around the stock switches, probably because of the various annoying problems there.
i had power at the switch in the driver's door. jumpering power to any of the window UP wires did nothing (yes of course the windows were stuck down).
in our 88 the window control module is in a black box behind the engine control module in the passenger kick panel.
it had fried traces like others were seeing. i could see where they looked funky and didn't have continuity between the solder points nearby. i ran some jumper wires and now my windows work again!
i just can't seem to upload the other photos. maybe total size limit? weird.

Nice work. A little more practice, and you can be tackling some projects like these: https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...y=jeffescortlx
