OP did you try just running a wire from the battery to a switch then to the starter??

Nope, straight from the battery to the actuator on the starter. Eliminated the entire ignition system from the equation and let me pin point the ignition switch as the culprit.

(sarcasm doesn't suit you) *laugh*

Ricky, good to see you got it running. I was/ still am having problems with my rig after the motor swap. I started getting so frustrated I wanted to sell it. I was threatened by a member or two not to give it up. So I will do the same to you.

DON'T BE SELLING YOUR RIG,MISTER, OR I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN IN NM, or possibly Spokane, but you will have to let us know when that one happens, AND KICK YOU IN THE SHIN!!

Kiyo I'll never sell this rig (and you damn sure better not even THINK about selling yours!!!!). You want a butt kicking buddy then I'll drive up there and give you one, can't have our PR guy doing something like that. Mine is after all the Presidential Royal Blue 4runner. Let me know what you're having problems with and I'll help you figure it out even if I have to drive up there and put hands on.

Oh and BTW you better get that rig in line if you want to install these 4.56's with lockers that I'm about to sell... can't have the motor choking when the gears need turning!.

give me a price when you are ready to sell. We are house shopping so I need to know how much OT to work so I can stash a little slush fund money away.

I'm having a similar problem with my daughters 4runner (v6) '91. New Alternator (14.9 volts running), New Battery (NAPA Legen 75 month) & needs jumped every so often and now won't 'turn over' or crank even when jumped. There HAS to be a poor connection somewhere... HELLLLPP !!

Barth have you tried running a wire from the starter solenoid to the battery to see if it starts? Make sure the truck is in neutral and the key is in the run position. If that works then it's the ignition switch or something in that system.

I'll check but after doing more reading It seems to the symptoms are just like the common 'solenoid contacts' problem. I will have to pull the starter before I order parts to ensure I have an original ND starter. If I don't I'll get one, new or used I'm not putting money into fixing a rebuilt non-ND starter...

That's a good idea. I do recommend trying the jumper wire that I mentioned above before pulling anything. If I'd have done that first, as others had told me, I'd have saved myself days of worry and a few hundred dollars in crap I did not need.
