on front of the a/c is the stick on thing, that shows you how to move the knobs for which type control, or the blower strength , etc.
Can we get one of those, that is not in dark red, that can actually be seen?

The earlier ones are alot easier to see. At least the one in my 85 is. The one in my 87 is that red and is very difficult to see

maybe one from a later model will fit? my 90 is a brighter red than the older ones... or you could just swap the bulb behind there for a white LED bulb...

there's a bulb behind the panel... it's not LED from the factory.
maybe your's is burned out? if it's not, you can put an LED bulb in and it will be brighter.

1990 will not fit 84-88. The 84-86 heater face plate did not have a picture for blending heat and defrost. That was added in 1987, along with a notch in the heater control so it was easier to recognize where to stop the slide.

Finding a used heater control face plate is almost impossible, sinply because they are so fragile and often times broken through. Ebay might be your best solution there. The face plates are still available new from Toyota, but the only one available is the 87-89 style. All old numbers supercede to ONE number, and is the only style you can now get.

As long as your bulb is working, and the clear plastic "light spreader" (as I call it) is there, you should be able to see the red no problem.

I bought one from Toyota last week, as the old one was so brittle you couldn't touch it without it poking a hole in it. Looks much better now. Cost me about $20.
