88 Chinook Camper Conversion, Brake Question

I need to upgrade the front brakes after swapping the Chinook Camper on my 88.
1988 Chinook Camper
I've read a few different posts about the V6 caliper upgrade and I've spoken to a few shops. I'm a little confused on the information I was given. Here is my parts list
(2) V6 Calipers (early 90s toyota pickup)
1" FJ80 Brake Master
Rotors ( 88 4x4, rock auto)
V6 Caliper brake pads (rock auto)
New SS brake lines
I thought I could also upgrade the rotors but I was told that is only an option for solid axle trucks, not IFS.

First of all, we need more pics of that Chinook. I don't know if this is 100% the correct answer to your question, but I believe the older trucks with solid front axles happened to also have solid rotors. The later trucks with IFS came with vented rotors, which I guess are an upgrade, so you've already got the right rotors.

Perfect. So as long as I'm buying the 88 rotors for my truck it should be compatible with the V6 IFS calipers everyone upgrades to?
Here is the current state of the build. Trying to dial in everything before I start the process of thinking about having it repainted.

Er.... The later V6 calipers and the rotors they are paired to are not the same as your '88's
In late '92 they changed the rotor thickness, so those rotors and calipers are a bit heavier duty than the earlier ones are.
The '93 to '95 V6 IFS front brake parts are the best for this upgrade.
I had to trim the brake backing tin on my '87 4Runner, but no biggie.
I was happy keeping the original type master cyl.

Milball is correct...as usual. The V6 calipers and rotors are an easy bolt on improvement.
Way back I went even bigger with T100 calipers and rotors. I posted it on Marlin Crawler forum. I'll see if I can find it. It made a big difference but even more noticeable was a dual diaphragm booster from a 2nd gen 4Runner. (Maybe V6 pickups too) This was all on my 88 standard cab 22RE 4x4 IFS pickup at the time. I'll see if I can dig up the links.
Way back I went even bigger with T100 calipers and rotors. I posted it on Marlin Crawler forum. I'll see if I can find it. It made a big difference but even more noticeable was a dual diaphragm booster from a 2nd gen 4Runner. (Maybe V6 pickups too) This was all on my 88 standard cab 22RE 4x4 IFS pickup at the time. I'll see if I can dig up the links.

The brake booster was from a early 90's 4Runner or pickup with the 3.0 V6. A bolt in deal. I used the same master cylinder which I believe is the same as the one Millball mentioned. Going from a single diaphragm booster to the dual was night and day difference.
The T100 calipers cleared the chrome modular 15" steel wheels I had back then. Not sure about the wheels you're running. Something you need to check whenever going to larger brakes.

Yeah, bigger brakes gotta fit your wheels for sure. The ones millball referred you to should fit and are still an improvement over what you had originally. Rock Auto is a really good reference for the specs of the parts. They do list the diameters and thickness of the rotors and the caliper piston size.
I buy from Rock Auto if they are the best price to my door. I google the part number and often find the best price is at Walmart and even Home Depot now. Even OEM parts. Surprised me. Good deal for me because of the free shipping and the veterans discount.
The dual diaphragm booster is worth it if you just have the single. A noticeable improvement in pedal effort.

I'm pretty sure that if you read aztoymans T100 thread carefully, you'll find that the T100 calipers and rotors and the '93-'95 4Runner V6 calipers and rotors are identical.
A check on Rockauto for corresponding parts numbers confirms this.
I did not check booster and brake master numbers.

I got the MC and booster from a guy parting out a 90's 3.0 4Runner and I think it was earlier than the 94 model year. I JUST recently replaced that MC. Yep, finally died. I put in an ADVICS (Denso) BMT-051 from Rock Auto. The 94 and 95 4Runner take the BMT-081. The only thing I see different is the level sensor is in the reservoir vs in the cap. The bore is the same at 1". IDK if the rest is the same.
The 93 and earlier V6 4runner booster and master fit my 88 standard cab. I'm sure the rotors and calipers would have too.
I have two sets of those MC and boosters from back then. The other was from a 93 Extra Cab my son bought. Just the cab actually for a project. Same part numbers for the MC and booster.
I just removed the T100 calipers and rotors and I have huge 2017 4Runner calipers and rotors now. They are under steel Raceline 17" beadlocks. NO WAY would they fit smaller wheels.
