88 bed on a 91?

Found a fiberglass bed off an 88 for cheap and my 91 bed is rustin bad! Anyone ever put an older bed on a newer truck and have any pics?

Have you searched to see if anyone has?

Never done it myself but I imagine there are generational differences and since it is fiberglass it might not be modifiable easily, rather you would have to modify mounts.

I searched but the only thing i found was older trucks with newer beds

youll probably end up having to move your bed mounts so they line up with the fiberglass bed mounts. i you have a cherry picker and a welder you could have the box on in an hour or two.
1 - take you box off
2 - test to see which mounts line up/dont line up and carefully cut them off
3 - glass box attached to cherry picker with slings
4 - position box to desired location with the old metal mounts bolted to the glass box
5 - weld

I got an 88 with a 91 bed

Funny you posted this. I have an 88 with a 91 bed on it. When I put the 91 bed on it, I had to move the mounts. If you put the fiberglass one on, I would just mark out your mounts, then get some 3/16" steel and make about 5" steel squares, and drill holes in the center. Use them as washers for your new mounts. Works best if you glass them in with fiberglass resin. Hope that's helpful.

PM slacker. He builds fiberglass beds he can offer you some pointers on working with fiberglass.
