Hy guys I just bought a 88 4runner 4x4 , it turns on and everything but it has a knock on the motor I think it's the heads or a head , but I opened the top cover and they all seemed fine just wondering if I should take It to the machine shop or sum? Please help!

 

Knocking could be a lot of things. Takes someone whos heard an engine knock before to tell you what it is. Rod knock has a very obvious sound. Bearings in your alternator and water pump can also cause a knocking sound. My best advice to give you is to get a stethoscope and start poking it around. But if it is an internal engine knock sorry to tell ya but start looking for a new engine.

I got It for 800 the body is great everything is fine I just want it running I'll fix it by next month

 

800 bucks for a 88 Runner, definitely needs an engine.
