88 3VZE Help

Hey guys. Me and a few buddies have been rebuilding this thing and we cant seem to get it to idle. It cranks and will fire up. I think its the vac lines. I already adjusted idle screw to 2 1/2 turns out... So i took a video of the startup and how it dies and then attempt to show you how the hoses are hooked up. Fuel filter was just replaced

Tried copying that URL and it didn't work.... I had the same problem with mine when I first bought it. Did a compression test and 0 compression in cylinder 1. Bad valve. Do a compression test if you believe the vacuum lines are good.

Fixed the url of the video. And thing is, it was idling. But it was idling kinda rough so i tried to follow some diagrams for the vaccuum lines i found online... Now it just wont odle at all. Pretty sure i messed up somewhere. If someone could look at the video and tell me what i did wrong that would be a huge help. Thanks!

Wow! Imagine if, instead of the sticker under the hood, Toyota provided an unsteady video supposedly showing how to hook up the vacuum lines!

Do your vacuum lines match the sticker? It looks like you have the EGR and Fuel Pressure regulator lines (below the PCV line) all unhooked. But I can't really tell from the video.

If your FPR vacuum line (which goes to the FPU VSV) is disconnected, it will raise the rail pressure and, with the throttle closed at idle, probably flood the engine. I'm not sure off-hand what disconnecting the EGR lines will do, but it probably isn't good.

I don't have the vacuum sticker under my '88 hood either. But I found a great illustration of the vacuum hose hookup for the 3vze on the internet. I'm going to copy it to paper, then glue it to the underside of my hood, and hit it with some clear paint when I repaint the hood. I'm attaching the pic for you, hope it helps. Good luck!
