87 runner info

hello Im new to the world of toys. i am a former jeep owner and figured it was time to upgrade.anyway just traded my 87 yj for a 87 4runner non tubo. can anyone tell me what i should remove or upgrade first.im running mostly trails. i heard the rear axle was tops but howabout the front. thanx in advance.

probably start with a 4inch procomp lift add 33s and 488gears but if you do mainly rock trails than it would be benefical to start with a 4inch sas kit and put a solid front axle on with 36s and gears with lockers

Just take your 4 Runner out for a trail ride then go from there.After that you wouldn't piss on a Heep if it was burning.

fire roads/trails or rocks? subtle difference, but important.
is it going to be a driver or dedicated off-road vehicle?

I don't see any point in installing an IFS lift, like a Procomp Stage II, if it's going to be a rock crawler.
Should probably jump straight to an SAS for instant gratification (not that it's particularly better than some of the IFS kits, but will make you feel better about doing it).

lock the rear..
get 32 inch mud tires.. or 33s if you wanta body lift..
armor /winch
then offroad that and see how far you get... bet you get pretty far
