I bought this 87 pickup for $600, and had to go into full stalker mode to find the guy. His phone quit working and he lived a hour and a half away. Nothing a little help from the internet wouldnt fix. I got the truck with the only issue supposidly being was the frame rot. Test drove it for a while, and the accelerator kept getting stuck wide open due to the cable catching. Fixed it with a zip tie, threw the doors on, and i was on my way.

Got the truck home safely and with no issue other then it refusing to go above 55 mph. Drove it to work the next day, and tore out all of the previous owners wiring, and eliminated everything i didnt want. The next day on my way home from work, the engine had a geizer of oil and coolant come out of the top of the valve cover. I was intending on checking the water jacket, but i had not done it in time. The guides blew up and the chain ate through the water jacket. I started ordering parts assuming that the 22r was a later model block then i had ordered parts for. Got a new block for $50 and sold the old block for $50. So in the end that all worked out. While i had the engine out and was waiting for all the parts i decided to fix the frame. Removed the cab and decided that my doner 84 solid axle frame would be easier to patch and attach it to the rear of the 87 frame. Killing 2 birds with one stone. Sas and less frame work. Threw on a weber carb. Made some egr blockplates. And some of the other small things that have been done soo far

Cleaning the frame up today and buttoning up the rest of it today. Its further along then this. These are just the most recent photos. The one photo is the 87 frame. Not too much to work off of. And ill need all the luck i can get! Haha thanks

This is the 22r. Built in my basement, so i havent had the courage to assemble it any further. All the little stuff is done. Timing chain, head magnafluxed and plained, valves ground, new seats, and so on.

This was the block that messed my day up. Notice the gap in between the head and the timing chain cover. At least i know that not all 22r/22re blocks are the same now.

Man, I wish I could tear down my pickup like that myself. I loose track of what screw is what after 5th screw... Installing a cold air intake took an hour 30minutes..

HOLY COW! You are using a Hoyer Lift to work on the engine! Haha. That is cool. My wife is disabled and we use one for her, and I thought to myself that the Hoyer Lift might work for removing an engine from a car or truck. You've proved it!

It works great! Haha. Extreamly stable, easily adjustable legs, lifts plenty high enough, and it moves around my basement easily. I wouldnt use it for anything much larger, but my neighbor gave it to me so i figured it was worth giving it a shot.

Got the burnt orange basterds frame finished today. Needed a few more patches (bringing the number to around 30), but at the very least it will last a whole hell of a lot longer with about 75% now being american steel.

I havent taken any photos in a while, but we have started putting the truck together. I have come to find out that it is a very time consuming process to make sure everything is stripped down properly for the paint to bond properly. There is now a second coat on the frame, finished combining the 87&84 grill, made some small repairs to the fuel tank, driveshafts are painted and installed, transmission is in, the block is in, and a few other things. I am going to clean the block and trans after the truck back on the road.

My wife has plans for the weekend with my sister in law, so my brother in law and i will have the next two days to make some real progress. We stripped the cab down to the shell of the body, dash, and the small stuff in the doghouse. I will take photos tomorrow, there is still a lot of work ahead of me.

After a long weekend the cab is on loosely, the engine is almost complete and a lot of other things have been knocked out. I got some stainless from work, so now i have stainless floor pans. I got some awesome arc rods that were made for welding stainless to regular steel. Did a thick coating of rustoleum paint that i got for free on the floor of the cab, then a ruberized coat, then coated in truck bed liner.

The engine runs like a dream. Still meesing around with the fuel lines trying to figure out what to do. For the moment i am running a electric 4psi fuel pump until i can find the spacer for mu mechanical pump. Fixed the cut and split spots in the electrical harness and covered everything in wire loom. After we bleed the clutch and brakes it should be ready to take out for a spin.

The little truck does great. I think i hear the driverside wheel bearing clicking, but other then that the truck is doing awesome. Including the $600 i paid for the truck i am into it entirely at $1500, countless hours, and a very angry wife. It gets a stupid amount of attention. I still need to fix up the rear breaks (cylinder is leaking). I had to make new shock mounts and pivot one of the axle shock mounts. I need to do some work to the door hinges and pin them so i can remove them easily. After the doors, i got a truck bed for a 94 for free. Its rough, but i will be bobbing and dovetailing it, so looks dont matter.

I had some 480volt fine strand wire that i ran since i had it all tore apart. Wired a switch panel that came out of a old ambulance. Wired my inverter up underneath the seat. Threw some led bars under the hood, so ill be able to work on it if i break down.
